Well-known Multinational Company Optimistic about the Investment Prospects of Sichuan Intends to Strengthen Cooperation in Emerging Industries

On November 17, the Symposium for Well-known Multinational Enterprises Investing in Sichuan was held in Chengdu with the theme of "New Opportunities, New Development and New Patterns". The conference was co-sponsored by the International Cooperation Center of the National Development and Reform Commission, Sichuan Provincial Economic Cooperation Bureau, and Sichuan Provincial Development and Reform Commission with the aim of greater understanding and more cooperation opportunities between multinational enterprises and Sichuan, achieving a higher level mutually beneficial cooperation in wider field.

At the conference, the leaders of 14 famous multinational enterprises, including Hitachi Group, Shell, Panasonic, ORIX, Qualcomm and CJ, said that they were optimistic about the investment prospects in Sichuan and hoped to continue to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with Sichuan.

In recent years, the atmosphere of foreign investment in Sichuan has become increasingly active, and the annual report of foreign investment information shows that the number of surviving foreign-invested enterprises in Sichuan Province ranks first in the Midwest of China. From January to October this year, Sichuan established 667 new foreign-invested enterprises (institutions), growing by 29.01% year-on-year, contracted foreign investment reaching 9.437 billion dollars, growing by 4.97% year-on-year, actual foreign investment in place reaching 6.973 billion dollars.

In 2020, 12 enterprises of the world's top 500 companies settled in Sichuan, so the enterprises of the world's top 500 settling in Sichuan reaching a total of 364 among which 3 overseas world's top 500 companies settled in Sichuan, reaching a total of 250. Intel, Texas Instruments, Dell, Volkswagen, Toyota, BMW, Wal-Mart, Mitsubishi and other enterprises have set up production bases in Sichuan. Siemens, Ito and other multinational companies set up regional or functional headquarters in Sichuan, which have promoted the high-quality development of Sichuan's economy and society.
