In 2021, the Strategic Alliance for Collaborative Innovation of High-tech Zones in Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle was officially established. Recently, the science and technology departments of Sichuan and Chongqing worked together again to establish the Alliance of Research Institutes in Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle and the Strategic Alliance for Collaborative Innovation of University Science and Technology Parks in Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle.

The Strategic Alliance for Collaborative Innovation of University Science and Technology Parks in Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle was jointly initiated and established by 10 national university science and technology parks, under the leadership of Sichuan University and Chongqing University. It aims to explore the sustainable development model of university science and technology parks, promote collaborative and innovative development of these parks in both places, and contribute to high-quality regional socio-economic development. Member units of the Alliance organize a learning session every year regularly to exchange ideas, enhance mutual understanding, share resources and explore cooperation models. 

The Alliance of Research Institutes in Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle will strengthen scientific and technological cooperation based on the resources of key institutes in the Chengdu-Chongqing area to jointly undertake a number of major innovative research and development projects. It will integrate the disciplines and talent resources of Sichuan and Chongqing, strengthen scientific and technological exchanges and cooperation, promote industrial and technological upgrading, and drive the application of achievements in the two places. 

In addition, Sichuan and Chongqing will also actively boost the cooperation between research institutes and local governments to accelerate the commercialization and industrialization of advances in science and technology. They will jointly strive for breakthroughs in key and core technologies for future industrial development in the two places, promote the development of characteristic competitive industrial clusters in Chengdu and Chongqing, cooperate in advancing the construction of the standard systems for characteristic emerging industries and key technologies, and energize the transformation, upgrading and high-quality development of industries through standardization.
