Round-trip Flights from Chengdu to Jiuzhaigou to be Resumed from September 6
Updated:2019.08.21

On August 19, according to Air China's southwest branch, Air China will resume flight services between earthquake-damaged Jiuzhaigou scenic area in southwestern Sichuan Province and Chengdu, the provincial capital. The company will operate flights every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday with an Airbus A319 aircraft.

On August 8, Sichuan Airlines resumed operating the flight between Chengdu and Jiuzhaigou with an Airbus A319 aircraft every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. When Air China resumes flight services from Chengdu to Jiuzhaigou, there will be a round-trip flight between the two places every day.

On August 8, 2017, a 7.0-magnitude quake forced the closure of the Jiuzhaigou National Park, a famous scenic spot. The Jiuzhaigou National Park is expected to start trial operation this year under the premise that safety is guaranteed, as the restoration of the park advanced well after the closure, according to the Party Committee and Government of Jiuzhaigou County. In addition, the Huanglong National Park ended closure for conservation in winter on April 1 this year and began to be open to tourists at home and abroad.

Located in Songpan County of Aba Autonomous Prefecture, Jiuzhai Huanglong Airport, is an important air traffic hub linking tourist sites to the outside world.  After the earthquake, as flight services halted, Jiuzhai Huanglong Airport attached importance to the maintenance of facilities and equipment and personnel training, to ensure it can remain a good condition to provide services. The airport plans to resume flight services to cities including Chongqing, Xi'an, Beijing and Shanghai within the year.
